Very impressive bookcase / room divider designed by Industrial designer Wim Rietveld, son of Gerrit Rietveld. This bookcase was a big question, but it was made for exclusive department store De Bijenkorf in 1960. De Bijenkorf sold a lot of top designs by Friso Kramer, Wim Rietveld, Gerrit Rietveld, Gio Ponti etc. They worked with great designers in those days and the still do now! This bookcase was designed after the wooden bookcase designed by Gerrit Rietveld in the 1930s. This bookcase stands on its own, its double sided so you can also use this as a room divider. The bookcase is in original white and green color which is very rare and a nice combination for the contrast. The bookcase has some paint loss/rust, but it fits the industrial profile. A very nice and exceptional piece of industrial design, a true must have for any lover / collector. Impossible to find elsewhere in original (green) condition. Would adapt any modernist interior because of the neutral colors.
