Spectacular coffee table designed by Michel Mangematin and Roger Bruny, manufactured by Galeri Balt, France 1965. This table has a solid bronze sculptural base which was inspired by the legs of the Barcelona chair supporting a thick oval hardened glass top. The bronze is in good original condition with patina, can be cleaned to shiny if wanted but it looks nice as it is. The glass top has some normal surface wear after 50 years of usage, no chips from the glass.
Michel Mangematin was a French architect from the Paris Beaux Arts School. He went to United States and worked with Frank Lloyd Wright and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. He also designed a few furniture pièces as this, a chair, armchair, and three tables with crossed feet recalling the Rohe Barcelona chair. He was a teacher at Architecture school in Clermont-Ferrand. He built several modernist private houses, mixing walls to their natural site.
