One of the very few comfortable chairs designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld for Metz en Co, 1935. This chair is special cause it was the first upholstered chair designed by Rietveld. This was executed by Metz & Co, the wooden frame was built by Gerard van de Groenekan, this chair has a special old chocolate brown canvas upholstery with very nice patina from age and usage. This chair was produced sold by Metz & Co from 1935 to 1975. This example was probably bought in the beginning of the 1960s and has nice typical brown canvas upholstery. This chair has a fantastic appearance and look from years of use but this is still very well preserved.
Provenance: Purchased at Metz & Co in the beginning of the 1960s, previous owner inherited this chair from his father who passed away recently.
