Extremely rare set of 6 Revolt chairs designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, Holland 1953. Though the Revolt chair was already designed in 1953, the production started in 1958. Friso Kramer originally wanted the chairs only to be produced in 1 color, frame and seating in the same color, but because of commercial purposes Ahrend didn’t agree and manufactured the chairs in any possible combination. This is for a rare set of unicolor chairs, totally in blue. This is how Friso Kramer saw the chairs at its best, and we cannot disagree. The chairs have a folded metal base which is very strong and a ciranol seat and back. The chairs are impressed at the back pf the frames (Ahrend de Cirkel). The chairs are in amazing original condition, the nice blue painted lacquered metal frames have normal wear from age and usage. The seats and backs are also in blue and are in good condition too with only normal wear due to age and usage, have a detailed look at the pictures for visible marks. This is for a very hard to find and unique early set of Revolt chairs that matches perfectly.
The designs of Friso Kramer are highly sought after because of their progressive designs. Even though this chair was designed in 1953, this is still in production at Ahrend. With few modern changes to the materials but the shape is still identical. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result.
