Nice set of 4 Revolt chairs designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, Holland 1953. Though the Revolt chair was already designed in 1953, the production started in 1958. The chairs have a folded metal base which is very strong and a ciranol seat and back. Some chairs are stickered with the Ahrend de Cirkel logo and marked with the impressed mark at the back (Ahrend de Cirkel). The chairs are in good original condition, the black painted metal frame has normal wear from age and usage. The seats and backs are in grey, liver, blue and red color and are in good condition without cracks, with only normal wear due to age and usage. This is for a nice matching colorful set that matches perfectly.
The designs of Friso Kramer are highly sought after because of their progressive designs. Even though this chair was designed in 1953, this is still in production at Ahrend. With few modern changes to the materials but the shape is still identical. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result.
