Nice limited edition solid brass sculpture designed by Frans de Wit ( Leiden 1942-2004) for Gallery Nouvelles Images Den Haag, Holland 1975. This nice abstract modern sculpture was made of cast brass and was marked underneath. This was number 242 of an edition of 300. Stamped NI and Frans de Wit. Very nice and clean condition. Would look highly decorative in any home or interior.

'Back to basics' might be used as a motto for the work of Frans de Wit. As a sculptor, he constantly refers to basic shapes and principles. Geometric values ”‹”‹- square, triangle, circle – are equally principles as opposed spare closed-open, horizontal-vertical, hollow sphere, organ–abstract. The defiance of the force of gravity in such a way that the voltage can be felt, but also work with forces that are inherent to the chosen materials: the search for balance. Metal, stone, wood and concrete are left in their value; the identity of the material is part of the work. The word "work" in a double meaning, not only the end result counts, but also the process to that result.
