Very rare and very early seating set designed by Ko Verzuu for Ado Holland in 1925. Ado means Arbeid door onvolwaardigen, translated; labor by incapacitated, which makes this an even more special piece. Toys by Ado are being highly collected at the moment, even more than ever cause this is very decorative combined with 1950s furniture from all countries! Very nice colorful toys, with crafted finishes, all handmade and hand colored. This is an early toy seating set, for sure the earliest work I have ever seen by Ado and it’s in very nice played condition but I think the patina makes this a very nice piece with aging to it. This set was documented in the Ado book page 41, you see it at an exhibition picture from the Hijvo-tentoonstelling (exhibition) Deventer in 1925. Ko Verzuu inspired his designed on ‘De Stijl’ bij Gerrit Thomas Rietveld. In this car you can see a lot of comparisons with 'De Stijl' and Gerrit Rietveld, especially the primary colors. This set would look highly decorative as this can be used as a sculpture everywhere! Unmarked but the early pieces were not marked yet! A very good future investment.
