Ado toy furniture Ko Verzuu, Holland 1939
Height: 16 cm
Width: 24 cm
Depth: 12 cm
Very nice set of small toy furniture designed by Ko Verzuu for Ado Holland in 1939. Ado means Arbeid door onvolwaardigen, translated; labor by incapacitated, which makes this an even more special piece. Toys by Ado are being highly collected at the moment, even more than ever cause this is very decorative combined with 1950s furniture from all countries! Very nice colorful toys, with crafted finishes, all handmade and hand colored. This is an early toy furniture set and it’s in very nice played condition but I think the patina makes this a very nice piece with aging to it. This set was documented in the Ado catalogue from 1939/1940. Ko Verzuu inspired his designed on ‘De Stijl’ bij Gerrit Thomas Rietveld. In this set you can see a lot of comparisons with 'De Stijl' and Gerrit Rietveld, especially the primary colors and modernist shapes. This set would look highly decorative as this can be used as a sculpture everywhere! All pieces are marked with the metal Ado tag and brand marked at the bottom. Highly rare and decorative set.
