Friso Kramer Revolt chair with arms for Ahrend de Cirkel 1953
Height: 81/48 cm
Width: 57 cm
Depth: 50 cm
Nice rare Revolt chair designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, Holland 1953. Though the Revolt chair was already designed in 1953, the production started in 1958. The chair has a folded metal base which was very strong and a ciranol smooth petrol blue seat and back. This chair is a rare version with grey plastic arms. The chair is in nice original condition, the grey lacquered metal frame has minimal wear from age and usage and the back of the chair has a mark that is visible on the pictures. Very nice and comfortable side chair designed by Kramer.
The designs of Friso Kramer are highly sought after because of their progressive designs. Even though this chair was designed in 1953, this is still in production at Ahrend. With few modern changes to the materials but the shape is still identical. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result.
