Super nice and scarce set 6 Revolt chairs designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, Holland 1953. Though the Revolt chair was already designed in 1953, the production started in 1958. These chairs are rare because they were only used in several schools in Holland, these come from the TH Eindhoven production year 1963. The chairs are stickered with the Ahrend de Cirkel logo and with the TH Eindhoven metal tag on the side of the frame, also impressed at the back (Ahrend de Cirkel). The chairs are in fantastic condition, the black lacquered metal frames are in excellent clean condition. The teak wooden seats and backs are in very good original condition with amazing patina from age and usage. Just the seats have some surface wear from 50 years of usage but there are no cracks or chips to the wood. This is for a very hard to find set of 6, we have 2 extra available if wanted in similar condition.
The designs of Friso Kramer are highly sought after because of their progressive designs. Even though this chair was designed in 1953, this is still in production at Ahrend. With few modern changes to the materials but the shape is still identical. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result.
We are specialized in the industrial designs by Friso Kramer and we have built a large collection of Friso Kramer furniture. If there is anything you are interested in please contact us with your request.
