Ultra rare chair designed and made by Gerrit Rieveld Jr, son of Gerrit Rietveld, Holland 1955. This rare chair comes from Galerie Kapelhuis, Amersfoort. Gerrit Rietveld had the idea of producing cheap, usable furniture on large scale. Industrial furniture, he never succeeded because he was too progressive for his era. His son Wim Rietveld did, Gerrit Jr. also wanted to design industrial furniture but he never got that far. This chair is an own made production, a maximum of 10 chairs were made. Centraal Museum has one in their collection identical to this one, inventory number 27150. This chair has a tubular metal frame, white lacquered, plywood seat and back supporter by the frame and covered with a foam and fabric seating cushion. The chair is in original and authentic well-kept condition.
