Piet Blom Bastille chair for Twente Institute of technology 1965
Height: 86 cm
Width: 41 cm
Depth: 41 cm
Here for a rare example of the Bastille chair designed by Piet Blom for Twente Institute of technology, 1965. Piet Blom is better know by his cube houses in Rotterdam, designed in the 1980s. This example of the Bastille chair comes directly from the first big assignment he worked on in 1965; the conversion of an existing farm and the design of a newly built construction, the 'Bastille', for the 'Twente Institute of Technology'. Only 400 examples of the chair were made and in the 1990s most of them were repainted in nearly the same red but this is still an original example coming from the top floor, these weren't used as much and in better shape. Marked on the bottom and in very nice condition with original patina. The chair is well documented in F.Strauven's book 'Piet Blom', pp. 44, 59.
