Design iconic chair of all design chairs, this ultra rare and worldwide known ZigZag chair designed by one of the most important architects Holland has ever known. This is probably the most known design chair ever. It was originally designed in 1934 but was produced upon request several years. Even after Gerrit Rietveld died, Gerard v.d. Groenekan made several chairs. V.d. Groenekan was Rietvelds carpenter and he made all of his chairs after the first 1 or 2. This chair was made of elm and brass and is in well kept original condition.
Provenance: This chair came from an heritage of family Lagenberg, and was originally used in a Villa from Bergeijk, unknown architect was comissed to design and decorate the home in Bergeijk where this chair comes from,it was used as a desk chair in a study room. This was probably purchased at ‘De Bijenkorf’ ca. 1965, De Bijenkorf is an exlusive department store, located in Eindhoven (and other big cities) and is selling good design still. In the 1950s and 1960s you could buy Rietveld furniture at De Bijenkorf and V.d. Groenekan provided the chairs.
