Jan de Jong modernist chair 1960 nr 1/2
Height: 76 cm
Width: 72 cm
Depth: 83 cm
Ultra rare modernist easy chair designed and made by Dutch Architect Jan de Jong (1917-2001) in 1960. This chair is one of only 2 that were made by Jan de Jong in 1960. This chair was probably made for his own home/use, he did a course in churches architecture that was given by Hans Dom van der Laan (see bench). Jan de Jong was an architect who applied the Bossche school to buildings and furniture. De Bossche school has similarities with ‘De Stijl’ from Gerrit Rietveld. This chair has beech wooden slats which are connected in a magnificent way. The seat and back a grey/blue lacquered. The chair has a very nice user patine from age but no serious damages that don’t fit the pattern of age. Take this probably once in a lifetime opportunity to buy this rare piece of Dutch modernism. Take your chance.
