Stilnovo Gatta lamp ceiling fixture Italy 1959
Height: 70 cm
Width: 60 cm
Depth: 60 cm
VERY Rare marked ceiling fixture designed by Gatta for Stilnovo, Italy 1959. This is for a very rare and huge monumental ceiling lamp by one of the best Italian light producers in the 1950s, Stilnovo. Stilnovo was one of the bigger well known lamp distributors from the 1950s and 1960s, together with Arteluce and Arredoluce they created the fifties lamp craze before anyone else in the world. I was very lucky to have found this lamp for the 3rd time, but this time it is rare marked what I have never seen before! Very nice large black lacquered metal ring, covered with a white glass shade for nice diffused light, held by 3 nickel pens. Lamp hangs on 3 electrical wires, coming together in a very elegant black/white ceiling plate with 2 screws. This lamp is also documented in a Domus from 1959, on a page with a Stilnovo advertisement, The last picture comes from the original Stilnovo Catalogue from 1960.
